About me

Hey, I'm Roger! I'm a software engineer who's happiest when a problem requires both technical depth and talking to real people. My work has taken me from ML-powered inventory optimization for Fortune 500 companies to deploying property appraisal systems for county governments, and I genuinely love the variety.
I'm drawn to the kind of work where you have to figure out what the actual problem is before you can solve it. Client-facing requirements gathering, ambiguous data, systems that have to work in the messy real world -- that's where I do my best work.
What I'm doing now
Building Podium, a RAG assistant with bring-your-own-key architecture, agentic tool compatibility, and Terraform-managed AWS infrastructure.
Training toward my private pilot's license. The progress is slow but I love every minute of it.
Exploring Andrej Karpathy's nanochat. Specifically, how to squeeze meaningful results out of a model designed for 40 hours on 8×H100 GPUs when all I have is a 4080 Super.
